Privacy policy
GrabPaste collects no data. Your clipboard history stays on your devices.
The short version. GrabPaste has no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. Everything you copy is stored on your own device. When you send a clip to another device, it goes directly to that device, encrypted, without passing through us. We never see your clips, and we have no way to.
Who we are
GrabPaste is made by Simum Tasnim ("we", "us"). This policy covers the GrabPaste apps for iPhone and Mac, the GrabPaste keyboard and share extensions, and this website. If you have a question about it, write to support@grabpaste.com.
What we collect
Nothing. We don't collect, receive or store any personal information, usage data, diagnostics or identifiers from the app. On the App Store, GrabPaste's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
What the app keeps on your device
To work, GrabPaste saves the following in its own storage on each of your devices. None of it is sent to us.
- Clipboard history: the text, links, colors, images and files you copy or receive, with the time and the app they came from.
- Pinboards and the clips you pin to them.
- Paired devices: the names of devices you've paired and the keys that let them recognize each other.
- Settings, such as your keyboard shortcut and which apps to ignore.
GrabPaste doesn't save copies made in password managers or marked as concealed by the app they came from. On the Mac, you can also tell it to ignore any other app. You can pause capture at any time, delete single clips, or erase everything in Settings › Privacy › Delete All History. Deleting the app deletes its data from that device.
Sending clips between your devices
When you send a clip or use the grab and drop gesture, GrabPaste connects directly to your other device over your local network (Wi-Fi, or Apple's peer-to-peer Wi-Fi). Only devices you've paired can see or receive what you send, and the connection is encrypted with a key that only your devices hold. There's no GrabPaste server in between, and nothing is uploaded to the internet.
Every connection GrabPaste makes is listed in Settings › Devices › Network Log on that device.
iCloud Keychain
So that devices on the same Apple Account can recognize each other without pairing, GrabPaste stores one pairing key in your iCloud Keychain. Apple encrypts iCloud Keychain end to end, so neither Apple nor we can read it. Your clips, file names and device list are never stored in iCloud. If iCloud Keychain is off, you pair devices with a code instead.
Camera
The camera is off unless you turn on gestures or open catch mode. While it's on, Apple's on-device Vision framework looks for the position of your hand so GrabPaste can tell an open hand from a closed one. Video is processed in memory, never saved, and never leaves your device.
The GrabPaste keyboard
The iPhone keyboard shows your recent and pinned clips so you can insert them in other apps. iOS asks you to allow Full Access because the keyboard reads your history from GrabPaste's storage on your iPhone. The keyboard doesn't use the network, doesn't record what you type, and only inserts the clip you tap.
Local Network and paste permissions
GrabPaste asks for Local Network access to find your other devices nearby. On the Mac, it may ask for Accessibility access so it can paste the clip you pick into the app you're using, and Input Monitoring so its keyboard shortcut works in every app. These permissions are used only for those purposes.
Purchases
GrabPaste Pro and the free trial are bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never receive your name, email or payment details. The app checks on your device which plan you have. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple Account settings.
Crash reports
GrabPaste includes no crash reporting or analytics tools. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports with us. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements on iPhone, or the same place in System Settings on a Mac.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads nothing from other companies. The company that hosts it may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for a short time to keep the site running and secure. We don't use these logs to identify anyone. If you email us, we use your email only to reply.
Children
GrabPaste is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we don't hold any data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete. All your GrabPaste data is on your devices and under your control. If you've emailed us and want that email deleted, ask and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
